JUBILATE SINGS AT EMPTY BOWLS AND ANNOUNCES FUNDRAISER
JUBILATE: The Community Youth Choir of Warwick joined celebrated Hudson Valley artists and musicians at the second annual "Empty Bowls" held at Bellvale Community in Chester, NY on Sunday, September 30. The charity event, which hosted a standing room only crowd, invited guests to purchase a hand crafted bowl, filled with soup, with all proceeds going to the Hudson Valley Food Bank to fight hunger in our community. Hundreds of one-of-a-kind bowls were donated by local artists raising over ten thousand dollars for hungry neighbors.
JUBILATE provided a backdrop of beautiful sound for the day's festivities, with a choral performance led by Music Director, David Crone. Composer/singer Tina Ross, and singers Miriam Ross, and Megan McGrath joined
JUBILATE for a performance of Ross' original composition "It Echoes All Over the World".

JUBILATE is kicking off its second season this month after achieving acclaim in its first year for performances that were marked by exceptional beauty of sound, and a deep musicality. The diverse choir is comprised of young area singers from grades 5 through 12, who possess exceptional singing voices and have a strong interest in participating in a top notch and rigorous choral training and performance program. The group rehearses one evening a week at
Christ Church in Warwick, and they maintain a busy performance schedule throughout the school year. The group has about 2 dozen members who have performed in venues as varied as Warwick's Old School Baptist Church, and a
National Anthem moment at a Sussex (NJ) Skyhawks Game.
Performing at Empty Bowls proved a powerful experience of community outreach for the young members of
JUBILATE. "It is so rewarding to be a part of this event that goes to fighting hunger. I am so impressed with all of the talented artists who are giving their gifts from the goodness of their hearts, all going to hunger" said Ariana Sepulveda, who has sung with
JUBILATE since its inception. Added Emma Crone, "I enjoyed the pottery demonstration where we all participated in the destruction (of the demonstration pot) and the rebuilding as a group", and added Allison Dethmers, "I like doing things for those less fortunate than we; I'm glad we're doing this".
Music Director David Crone expressed his pride that
JUBILATE was reaching out to a larger community with their performance at Empty Bowls. He, Assistant Conductor Steven Wing, and
Choir Manager Annie Barker hope to build on this experience to deepen community ties through performances such as this.
This season,
JUBILATE plans an ambitious schedule of performances at local churches, synagogues, community events such as
Harvest to Holly, and full concert programs. Although start up funds for the group were provided by Christ Church in Warwick,
JUBILATE now seeks the support of the broader community as it continues to expand its numbers, its staff, and its programming.
On Saturday, November 3, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.,
JUBILATE will be hosting a
"Voice Raising", the group's first fundraiser, at the Barn at Spring Brook Farm, across from Penning's Store on South Rte. 94 in Warwick. This good old fashioned musical take on a barn raising will feature live bands including local Irish favorites Emish, singer/songwriter Elyssa Leonard and her ensemble, and Peter Holmgren.
JUBILATE will make a special musical appearance, and guests can enjoy wine, cheese, desserts, and coffee with their music, donated by some of Warwick's finest restaurants.
Tickets for "A Voice Raising" are $25 each; $20 for seniors and students. Tickets will be available for purchase at several Warwick Village locations including Greetings and Salutations, Newhard's, The Inkwell, Marie Pennings at Green Real Estate, Village Music, and The Acting Out Playhouse. Tickets may also be purchased by calling Deirdre Hamling at 987 - 2269.
